Despacito was a track from the year 2017 that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track worldwide within just 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mainly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to just two songs in 2015. The Despacito album reached its peak popularity in 2017, 19 tracks primarily made in Spanish made it to the top 100. This number rose to 41 by 2020. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito came out in the year 2017. Soon after, popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018) as well as Madonna worked with Maluma to create Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton stars were complaining about their genre's shift towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation namely Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep reggaeton evolving. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and various other genres was a typical method.
